Michonne looks at the picture of her daughter and demands Lance take them to the bakery. When she gets more forceful, the troops demand she let him go. With tears in her eyes, she tells the group her daughter Elodie is alive. Lance tells them to mount up and he'll bring them into town.
She's alive?! |
They stroll past street vendors and merchants when Stephanie, Eugene's contact, calls out to him. She's quickly rebuffed and threatened by Lance to be reassigned work detail, an act that doesn't go unnoticed.
So that's how they do it here... |
From there, they're led into a building where a man named Maxwell Hawkins asks their occupations. When Michonne says she was once a public defender, she's ushered in to meet Pamela Milton, governor of the Commonwealth. As the woman lauds the community, Michonne is clearly on edge. Meanwhile the others wait in the lobby while scores of troops walk by. Lance welcomes them back, later telling Eugene they were camped out and waiting for the group for three days.
Just wanted you to know. |
Back in the office, Pamela continues to explain to Michonne that they're 50,000 strong and run by leaders, or engines. The governor can tell this woman is an engine, and they all have to work together. Even the brutes know their roles, as the security detail agrees.
Brutes. Damn. |
Michonne finally tells the woman to stop. There was a picture on the wall of the lost - her daughter. As a mother herself, Pamela apologizes and arranges to escort her to the bakery personally. When they get inside, Elodie walks out with the cake she's just made when her eyes meet her mother's for the first time in a while. She drops the cake and they embrace. What happens next? We'll have to wait as this issue is left to be continued.
Well Elodie. You'll spend the first few minutes of your reunion cleaning up all this bullshit. |
And so begins the incursion of the group into yet another pocket of civilization. After the events at the Hilltop, Alexandria, The Sanctuary, Terminus and many more, only time will tell if this is the one to last. If history is any indicator though, chaos most certainly lies right behind the door. I give this one an 8/10.
