The Nano-Tech Sentinel stands atop the burning building and steps on a barely-hanging-on Gambit's hand. He falls and Storm catches him just in time. Nearby the X-Men bamf in and find Olivia Trask. Nightcrawler teleports her to the safety of the Blackbird while Logan claws his way into a burning building to assist some mismatched firefighters. He helps save some civilians while Kitty and her team prepare to fight.

I think it's speaking pig latin.

Kitty directs Colossus to deliver a fastball special, which is like the 10th time they've used this term since the super young series got off the ground. She phases into the being and scrambles the nanites. Just then Rachel is dealt a severe psychic blow and passes out, only to be revived on the plane.
She tells Kitty the sentinel is self-aware and Kitty mentions it might be vulnerable to a psych attack. Meanwhile on TV Lydia Nance uses the skyscraper's destruction as another brick against mutants. While the young X-Men watch from home, she further mentions Remy Lebeau as an accomplice.

I got a little cajun in me too. We're used to getting blamed for things.

Back on board the plane, the team gets Olivia talking. This was all caused by Gambit's meddling. As they continue flying, Nightcrawler sees the sentinel outside. Kitty phases through the jet's floor, but as Olivia explains - the AI in the machines learn. It blasts her just as the rest of the X-Men arrive.Gambit throws some cards and Storm attacks. But something's not right.
Kitty realizes the swarm is smaller this time. As she reports back, evidence of the swarm infesting the city filters in. They've dispersed. She asks Rachel for some psychic help which is delivered just in time. But it's at a cost. Rachel falls unconscious. And as Kurt mentions, their adversary is now city wide.
This issue wraps with Nightcrawler trying to figure out why it's targeting certain individuals. It doesn't make sense. Actually, Olivia says, it makes perfect sense. All of those being attacked suffer from various illnesses caused by genetic mutations. The sentinel is attacking everyone now and with that, we're left to be continued.

Doc Ock called. He wants his suit back.

It took about 4 issues or so, but we're finally reaching some levity. This book is starting to at least move from crawling to walking. The fights are starting to get better, without Kitty having to pretty much narrate everything that's happening. Bigger plot points. Thicker dialogue. It took some time but X-Men Gold is starting to deliver. They're maybe not hitting it out of the park yet but it's at least getting better with every issue. I give this one a series high 6/10.
