In a research facility, Gambit falls from the ductwork above and improvises past some security lasers. He unfortunately misses the guards standing behind him. They order him to the ground but he pulls a card from the deck, charges and throws it at them. As they lay unconscious, he strolls up to the device he came for - a tiny vile floating in a beam of light.
Shiny!

Meanwhile on a rooftop nearby, the X-Men battle a team of super villains literally brought together by their snake fetishes. The Serpant Society doesn't pose much of a threat. Kitty orders a quick roundup as she has a meeting with the city about getting sewage and plumbing hooked up in the mansion. At the same time, Logan and Storm meet with an NYPD detective. Seems a fellow mutant was recently found dead after being hit with some exotic ammo - not even cleared for use by the military. It seems to fit the MO of three other homicides in the area. And even more troubling, they were all mutants.
Wait - Is that Wendigo?!

Remy Lebeau meets with his mystery client at a posh Upper Westside Penthouse. She introduces herself and he picks up on a rather telling clue. She's Olivia Trask, granddaughter of the inventor of the mutan hunting Sentinals. The score turns out to be molecular nanites... tiny robots with smart technology. Gambit considers his options and as the subject of payment comes up, he declines the bounty in lieu of stopping his client from developing military grade Sentinal technology. He throws a playing card and it explodes, leaping through he air and grabbing the vial. It falls to the ground and the swarm of tiny machines interface with a nearby computer. She explains what a crucial mistake he's made when a large cloud of the robots fill the room.
This is bad.

At the Xavier Research Facility, Collosus meets with Dr. Reyes and they discuss the big lizard guy from the Brotherhood. He speaks an unknown language and her tests reveal he's not even a mutant.. he's an extraterrestrial. Kitty and Amara practice in the Danger Room and the more the interview progresses, it turns out Amara doesn't remember anything past Mesmero's mindwipe. She can't tell them anything about the now alien either.
Rachel breaks in telepathically and tells Kitty they have an urgent message from Gambit. A Psi-Link explains that a building full of over 300 people are in danger. She briefs the rest of the team and they scramble aboard the Blackbird. Kitty explains to them that if nanotechnology has merged with Sentinals, they're all in big trouble. But as Rachel looks through Gambit's eyes, it looks like they're too late. The nanites have mutated.. and with that, we're left to be continued.
A Sentinal can look like anything, and he chooses this?!

Ok, finally this book seems to be picking up a little bit and getting better. I kinda assumed that given a little time, they'd find their footing. It still seems like they're missing someone but I don't know who. Maybe Gambit and Rogue joining the team could give it a little kick but I dunno. So far we got one, assuming he hangs around. Silva's pencils are sharper than what Syaf was cobbling together and the story is developing better than the other books. For this one, I give it a well-improved 6/10.
