Hulk continues to fight in the gauntlet, but as his friends beg him to take on the next challenge, he holds back due to the elder Sharn and her sons in its grasp. Bhang begs him to fight, even walking beyond the border wall to cheer on his champion to the point he’s threatened to be killed. Hulk explains he was just waiting, and eventually gets the upperhand and destroys the beast. He frees Sharn but Bhang is torched for not following the warlord’s order.

Well good news and bad news. Hulk wins but YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!

Meanwhile Lickspit and his minions continue trying to pull Hulk’s enemies through the portal. The only problem is that each one is easily killed by them, thus unworthy of a fight.. but he orders them to keep trying. Back at the prison camp, the Doha-abi Clan do their best to nurse Bhang back to health. Before he dies, he tells the Hulk to never hold back again. At his funeral pyre, Sharn recommits their clan to help the Hulk, when suddenly one of the Warlord’s servants breaks in and requests Hulks presence.

I know you guys are busy with a funeral, but the Warlord is having a killer party!

Chak and Hulk meet him, though refuse their food. He tells the Hulk of his rise, seizing power while those like Bhang cared for their cities. Chak asks Hulk to just destroy the Warlord but all he can think of is the innocents. Before he goes, Hulk reminds him he’ll kill them all if he wins the gauntlet and reneges on their deal. The next day, he fights in the subsequent challenge and easily defeats his opponent. The Warlord calls for Lickspit, who’s busy testing out the subjects that fall from above. But this time he tells his master he’ll have to call back as he’s finally found one who might be a suitable foe for the Hulk.

Lemme call you right back. There's something rad over here.

The issue ends with the Hulk back at the gauntlet and preparing to face his latest opponent. When he turns to see who it is, he recognizes him. But he’s caught off guard as former Thor, Odinson smashes him with his battle axe. Why is Thor fighting him? Why did he fall from the portal and not recognize one of his oldest friends? We’ll have to wait as this issue is left to be continued.

Hulk: "Sup, Thor. Long time no see..."
Thor: BAAAAAAAM!

Man, I’m really enjoying this arc. And now that Thor is involved, it can only get better. I think it’s easy to look over books like this as they’re not being shoved down your throat with bi-monthly publishing schedules. But not only is Greg Pak a great storyteller, Greg Land is a stunning artist. They compliment each other perfectly. I give this one a 9/10.
