Despicable Deadpool #292

BUCKET LIST pt I

Deadpool calls Stryfe from an Apple Store for the next name on the list. Former Cable girlfriend and current Daily Bugle reporter Irene Merryweather. He dresses as Stryfe and apologizes, killing her and making his escape. The next day Stryfe gives him the next name... former X-Man Kid Apocalypse, aka Evan Sabahnur.

I ain't gonna lie... This was probably the most brutal panel in DP I've ever seen.

He decides to take a break from the list and visit imprisoned fake Steve Rogers. Placing a venomous snake on the sleeping crook's chest, the Secret Empire architect has been expecting Wade. He demands Evil Steve testify that killing Coulson was part of his orders, but he plans to plead the fifth. Further he explains Maria Hill was responsible for the bulk of everything because of her Cosmic Cube meddling. Wade declines to kill him now. Instead he threatens him in perpetuity, melting the toilet and flooding his cell.

Seems logical that a chimp assassin was killed in this process.

Outside the cell, he apologizes to his trained assassin chimpanzee who was apparently killed in the confusion. He shimmies out, later escaping in a hot air balloon. Problem is that he's discovered in the process. They blow him out of the sky, latter spilling his blood all over a guard's car. The issue wraps with the news report playing out the events of his supposed plan to break Stevil Rogers out. One of the people who hears it is Rogue who flies over the city. But her involvement will have to wait as this issue is left to be continued.

Ah get so tired of writers having to push Rogue's southern belle vernacular.
We get it, guys. Ah think y'all can knock it off now, y'hear.

So you thought Secret Empire was over? Well.. not quite. The mostly forgotten player in the whole thing was Deadpool and it's not surprising that he still has a bone to pick. I have to hand it to Gerry Duggan. With such an expansive crossover event, a lot of irons ended up left in the fire. Wade's still mad, and deserves to be the one who puts one of those said irons through the fake Captain America's head. I kind of like his chances of doing just that. I give this one a 9/10.
