Extraordinary X-Men #18

Written by Jeff Lemire
Penciled by Victor Ibanez and Andrea Sorrentino
Cover by David Yardin

The X-Men are preparing to go to war. Sitting in his workshop whining that he doesn't have any visible powers, Forge works on a new weapon that could destroy the Terrigen Cloud but feels underappreciated by his teammates. Storm goes down to brief him and although the two of them get into a yelling match, tells him he's taking the jet to put the machine in place. Going along with him will be Logan... just in case he needs a hand.
Once airborne, Forge asks the man formerly known as Wolverine what becomes of him in Logan's dystopian future. Logan tells him he becomes an eccentric mad scientist, whom eventually builds weapons that take out the Rhino and his goons. Feeling like a bad ass again, Forge thanks him for building back up his confidence. After landing and calibrating the machine, Storm and Cerebra teleport to check up on him and it's here that the 2 former lovers forgive each other for their spat earlier on. Forge prepares to power up the machine and with that, the issue comes to a close...
This book has pretty much my favorite current writer along with my favorite artist guesting on some pages that pretty much saved it. Lemire and Sorrentino are working their way into near legendary status for me, which luckily distracted me from Ibanez subpar artwork. Overall I give it a 7/10 and humbly beg Andrea Sorrentino to come work on this title more often. It could certainly use him...
