In a remote location of the New York mountains, Project Pegasus is visited by Dr Strange, the sorcerer supreme, summoned by Director Carter. He walks into a secured and locked away area to help deal with their Dr. Doom problem. The two mystics talk and after a long enough conversation, he believes Victor is truly trying to right his wrongs. But through deep meditation, it's evident that the doctor ran to his jailers out of fear.

I wish more doctors talked this way.

Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, Dr Doom or his mother... one of these people aren't being truthful. They delve into it while outside, Ben Grimm and his equals monitor the meeting from afar. They're interrupted by a vessel approaching the jail, very much to the Thing's surprise. The man once known as Mr. Fantastic calmly walks towards the guards despite being shot at repeatedly.

Yo, what's up dudes?!

Back in the meditation, Dr Strange asks Dr Doom about what happened with his mother. Although initially frustrated, he opens up. In the care of his mother after being injured, Reed Richards walked in. Not this dimension's Richards but some other one. Strange says that obviously it wasn't really Doom's mother either but he says he thinks that was indeed true.
Outside the facility, Reed toys with Sharon Carter by asking if she read some super high theory textbook that turns out to be fake. Tiring of the ruse, he begins to drop his disguise. The SHIELD agents continue shooting in his direction though being repelled by a wall of flames. Finally Ben Grimm attacks his old teammate but much to their chagrin, can't seem to make his punches count.

Ben Grimm used to be much stronger.

Victor and the sorcerer continue to discuss. He doesn't know who this impostor could be. After all, through his lifetime he's created scores of enemies. He begins to lose his temper when he realizes that they're being interrupted. Carter runs in. The man definitely ISN'T Reed Richards. So who is he? The trio go running back to the fight and Carter officially releases Doom into Strange's custody. Once outside, they demand the fake and fiery Reed Richards reveal himself. And finally, he does just that.

Didn't see that one coming...
Lord of Hell himself, the demon Mephisto stands before them. Victor Von Doom may have beaten him at every turn before, but there's no way he's going to allow him to change his fate. The two doctors go running into the wall of fire and with that, this issue is left to be concluded.
I have read somewhere before that this series was never intended to be more than a fairly short run title. That's too bad, because I'm beginning to really like Dr. Doom as a face instead of a heel. With Marvel Legacy nearing it's launch, I'm trying to make it a point to catch up on the new renumbered classic titles. Iron Man, Hulk, Amazing Spider-Man - all of them will return to legacy numbering though finding the path to that number, especially on the internet, is a little difficult. For this issue, the art is abstract and neat and the writing is excellent. I'm looking forward to seeing where it goes. For this one, I give it a 9/10.
