After the assault in DC, Spider-Man realizes they have little chance and to retreat. Captain America has Thor's hammer. The Avengers make a run for it and Mockingbird grabs Spidey. Once out of harm's way, the two patch their wounds and share a kiss.
Look... I know the world is ending but let's make out. |
Outside the Parker Industries in San Francisco, a Hydra-sworn Doc Ock orders the ragtag band of heroes out of the way. They storm the building taking all of the files and hard drives they can get their hands on. Pete makes a run for it to Shanghai where the last of his offices can make it's final stand. He addresses the employees and after half walk out, he rallies what's left. In Dr. Wu's lab, Parker finds the doctor, his wife and engineer extroadinare/daughter Lien Wu. He thanks Pete for the resources he's poured into cancer research and Lien re-pledges her support.
What, here to gloat? |
Meanwhile in the Zurich, Aunt May learns about the trouble in New York. Back in China, Pete tries to comfort researcher Dr. Philip Tang when Otto shows up. He walks through the dimmed city as Spider-Man calls out to all of his subordinates to get ready.
Here I come, baby. |
On top of the building, Ock faces off with him but thanks to his new armor, he gets the upper... um, arm. Spidey calls in the troops but as he calls for Otto to surrender, it's looks like it's all for naught.
Otto reveals the PI logo was actually a hidden "Otto Octavious" and illuminates it. He's had a backdoor into it the entire time, and is already in control of everything. He focuses all of Spider-Man's weapons on the webcrawler and prepares to fight.. What will happen next? We'll have to wait as this issue is left to be continued.
Hey Spider-Man - YOU'RE FIRED! |
From the mind of the Superior Spider-Man himself, Dr. Octopus has proved himself to be Spidey's greatest classic nemesis. They've faced off a million times but with a new body and all of Parker's tech, has he finally met his match? This was a great issue. Well written and bright and sharp, the only bad thing going for it is these Alex Ross covers. I give this one a 9/10.
