The team is stuck on an alien planet, and somehow Spider-Man was left behind in the negative zone. Vision grabs the nega-band and transports to the area he was last seen, hopefully saving him from Annilhus. Captain America tries to stop him but is too late. He pops into the negative zone, and Spider-Man transports back and right into Thor's arms. Iron Man reminds everyone that Vision won't last long without solar power to recharge him, and prepares to swap out with him but Vision reminds him that Annilhus isn't the real threat - it's his Blackstar cannon. He requests Thor come instead.
She teleports in and throws her hammer at the cannon but negative zone physics keeps the hammer from hitting it hard enough, and they're left to come up with another plan. Meanwhile in DC, Janet Pym takes her newly discovered step-daughter Nadia on a whirlwind tour. She meets the president, goes to a formal restaurant, goes donut...eating, and finally out for ice cream when Jarvis calls. It appears Nadia has some rather large gentlemen from the Russian consulate who would like to speak with her.
Back on the alien planet, Iron Man is ready to tap Thor out. Nova tries to volunteer, but Ms Marvel instead sneaks into Annilhus's machine to try and damage the power core. She begins to feel nauseous and it turns out to be radioactive. Nova sees his chance. He grabs the other band and swaps with Ms Marvel. His suit being radiation resistant, he ports in and destroys the devices core.
Enraged, Annilhus threatens to destroy him but Tony has an idea. He sends Thor in. Thor throws her hammer and then swaps with Tony. Seeing as the hammer is the only thing that is strong enough to pull the carrier in between zones, he catches it and is immediately pulled back to where all the others are. Thor catches him and the team is all safe. They help the other shipwrecked aliens rebuild their ships to get home and seeing an opportunity, Vision addresses them all. In return for saving them, he asks the entire population to keep an eye out for Sam's father, the original Nova.
Safely back on board their ship, they leave out. Sam Wilson tells Sam he's sorry they couldn't find his dad but they'd find him eventually. Spider-Man, Ms Marvel, and Nova watch the landscape as they head back to earth. Ms Marvel tells him it must be old hat to him, but overall, Sam thinks it was a pretty good day. And with that, this story arc comes to a conclusion.
I'm gonna miss this particular group of Avengers. As it's filled with pretty much all new heroes, it's kind of fun to watch these newer heroes discover their powers. Obviously nothing lasts forever but Waid does a good job giving it plenty of depth and Asrar's pencils are on point. Good stuff and I give it am 8/10.
