From high atop the Watchtower, Cyborg reveals to everyone that he's gotten some incredible vortex like signals from the Atlantic. Superman knows it's probably from Atlantis, so they all head down to earth. There, Atlantis lies exposed with the oceans peeled away from it, but covered with a huge dome. Cyborg tells everyone it's unbreakable, probably signaling magic. Either way, it'll have to wait as massive tidal waves are heading for the eastern seaboard.
Look what you did NOW!

Batman quarterbacks. Flash takes the energy out of the wave while the Lanterns form shields to protect the land. Unfortunately it all appears for naught as Mera, former queen of Atlantis, shows up and demands they do not interfere. She's furious. She tells them all Aquaman has been overthrown and kept from her inside the dome. The waves were sent to destroy it but to no avail.
Why don't you just settle down?

The Justice League demands she calms down but she won't listen. She sends them all tumbling. Going so far as to remove the rings from the Green Lanterns. Seeing Flash coming at her, she dehydrates him and freezes him in his tracks. Cyborg tries next but she shoots him out of the water atop a water spout. Finally Batman tries to tranquilize her and she nearly chokes him to death before he's able to disrupt her with a supersonic screamer. Finally take a moment to collect herself, Superman reveals that she almost destroyed the eastern half of the United States.
When keeping it real goes wrong...

She's distraught. Peace with the surface is what cost Aquaman his throne. Wonder Woman explains that they can help her just as they helped him at one time. Afraid to cause escalation with the Atlanteans, they ask her to return to the Watchtower with them. There she tells them that once Arthur was freed from the politics of Atlantis, they'd be able to live a quiet life. Batman asks her how she was able to defeat them so easily. She told them she was bluffing and it put them off their game. Wonder Woman asks to show her something.

The Earth beautifully sits below them. Oceans and surface alike, we were all outsiders at one time. The earth is what keeps us together. Simon bursts in and tells them there's a problem in Pakistan. They all suggest to Mera that she join them. She smiles and for once in a long time she really feels like she belongs. The issue wraps with them all charging to take down a common foe. And this time, a new member rides with them. With that, this issue is concluded.
Sure you can tag along. You can have Aquaman's spot. He hasn't been here in months.

This title continues to put different creative teams at the helm and so far, I don't know if I can tell whether it's helped or hurt. The last few books have been one shots that kind of reveal a proving ground for people, and that's fine and all but I'm ready for a little more. Seems like a flagship title isn't a wise one to experiment on but I guess that's just the way it is. For now, nothing gained nothing lost. I give this one an 8/10.
