5000 years from now, the last Accuser and the last Inhuman finally take Manhattan. The dome built over the sky spear was meant to stop the war. Now the last Inhuman goes near it to wake a king. In the present, the recently Thrown-into-a-skyspear Marvel Boy downloads scores of alien information. When it’s completed, he falls to the ground.
Weeeeeee! |
Marvel Boy proudly proclaims Inhumans and Kree are distantly related. Medusa asks for more info. It’s a super quantum computer, built to boost powers and transmit information back somewhere. But only Inhuman... not Kree or human. Also devoid of propulsion, the spears were literally thrown there. His explanation is interrupted however by the snarks, who armed with the other Inhumans’ power, attack.
Hey! It's us! |
During a flashback. Karnak explains to Gorgon that you don’t need powers to be powerful. Medusa interrupts him and asks how Gorgon is feeling. Not too optimistic he replies. She reassured him he’s needed. Today he stands drained of his Inhuman abilities. As the snarks keep he and the other Inhumans prisoners with their powers being used to bolster their own abilities, Gorgon fights back. He eventually breaks free and grabs his captor in a chokehold.
Dude was dissin' Gorgon's rap game. |
Back on the planets surface, Maximus prepares to fire a psychic shot but with Swain’s power, they neutralize him. Completely under snark control, he forces the others to advance towards Medusa when suddenly the nearby ship is decloaked. Gorgon and all the other formerly imprioned Inhumans run down the ramp to fight but they;re now powerless. Gorgon throws a pistol to his former queen who blows one of their heads off.
Splat! |
Free from Swain's control, the still powerless Inhumans fight back. Flint remembers that touching a skyspear will amplify their abilities, and runs towards it. Suddenly a massive spiked brick structure hovers over the two remaining snarks and crushes them. With the threat now gone, everyone breathes a sigh of relief and Medusa confronts Gorgon, asking how long he's had feelings for her. he mumbles some excuse and she quiets him, planting a big kiss on her hooved man at arms. What happens next though will have to wait, as this issue is left to be continued.
I'm trying as hard as I can to stick with this book but it's getting heavier than I like some of my comics to get. The intergalactic arm of Marvel's books has always been an outlier with me. I've avoided most, with the Guardians of the Galaxy usually being my only solid foray into it pretty much because they kept it dumbed down. When the Kree and Sh'air pop in, I'm usually one to run. If the Royals don't plan on returning to earth sometime soon, my fandom for this title may be on shaky ground. I give this one a 6/10.
