Cannonball's daughter Melody elects to take part in the Crucible, an event by which former mutants use the island's resurrection practices to rebirth them in their old, powered states. She goes up against Apocalypse, who helps return her to her old self.
Next we find out about the king egg, an unborn brood egg that when hatched, will usher in a new messiah for the insects. After some considerable build up, it ends when the human-brood Broo eats the egg, finishing the conflict.
The arc ends when newly discovered Summers brother Vulcan learns that there's some weird new fauna in his moonbased satellite home. They plan to come to earth to enslave the human/mutant race but instead they meet Magneto, who makes quick work of the little buggers.
With that, we're left to prepare for the X Of Swords, multi-book story arc. Should be a hoot!
