The Flight Attendant S1 Ep 8: Arrivals and Departures

The 5 biggest twists from The Flight Attendant Season 1 finale

We’re recapping the biggest twists and shocks from The Flight Attendant Episode 8.

That’s a wrap on The Flight Attendant Season 1! The high-stakes HBO Max thriller based on the Chris Bohjalian book of the same name ended with The Flight Attendant Episode 8, which debuted on the streaming service Thursday. Thankfully for the fans of the Kaley Cuoco-led series, it has already been renewed for a second season — so we don’t have to say goodbye to Cassie Bowden just yet.

While the season’s biggest twist was revealed in the penultimate episode — Buckley = Feliks = evil guy and Alex’s real killer — there were still plenty of surprises in store for the final hour, and we’ve broken them down below.

5. The Flight Attendant Episode 8 twist: Shane works for the CIA!?

Once they figured out Buckley’s real identity, Kim was able to get in touch with operatives in Rome. While we don’t see Shane receive the message, I’m guessing that’s how he found out Cassie might be in trouble, and the sound of a gunshot just solidified that fact.Perhaps the biggest twist to come out of The Flight Attendant Episode 8 was the reveal that Shane has been working for the CIA all along! He comes barreling in with guns blazing when he hears Cassie fire off a shot at Feliks. Luckily for Cassie, Annie drops off all the intel she’d gathered on Unisphere and Lionfish to FBI Agent Kim Hammond.

Shane saves the day and then lets Cassie know that he’s been investigating Megan for treason after stealing top-secret intel from her husband’s computer and selling it to those sketchy operatives from North Korea. I do have some questions about this, however.

Megan didn’t start spying until a few episodes into the show. Shane said he was working with Imperial Atlantic to spy on Megan, but he’d been there since the beginning — so was he just always using his gig as a flight attendant as a cover, or was he keeping tabs on Megan because of her husband? It’s a little confusing.
