Despite the fact that Episode 3 of the second season of Showtime’s Wall Street dark comedy ‘Black Monday’ had a sort of finality to it, especially with regards to its protagonist, played by Don Cheadle, it’s unlikely that Mo’s story is over so soon.

The former Black Panther, and former-Wall Street trader has faced some tough times. From a life of rolling in money and snorting cocaine and effectively being a powerbroker in New York City, Mo’s life went topsy turvy at the end of Season one. His friend and partners Dawn (Regina) and Blair (Andrew Rannells), and even Keith (Paul Scheer) backstabbed him.

Now absconding after the 1987 Wall Street meltdown and the death of Rod 'The Jammer' Jaminski (Bruce Dern), Mo is in Miami with Keith (yes), who is now a cocaine dealer. Episode 3 saw Mo help Keith out with his cartel troubles — Keith had lost a million dollars worth of the white powder to the sea.

Of course, things got way out of hand. There was a full-blown shootout between Keith’s drug dealers and the cartel bosses and their henchmen that resulted in almost everyone dying. Everyone except Keith and Mo that is. But Mo was not done. He locked Keith into the bank’s (that’s where the mediation was taking place) vault and left a note for the cops to apprehend him.

Despite Mo’s claims of being a reformed man, who wanted nothing but to move on from his former life, it would seem that Mo did want revenge. And he managed to exact it. But only against Keith? That seems a little strange, considering the real Brutus to Mo’s Caesar was Dawn.

The fourth episode titled ‘Fore!’, per IMDb, will see Blair's new political connection put Dawn in a compromising position. “New political connection” is a rather subtle way of saying his gay lover, Congressman Roger Harris (Tuc Watkins). The synopsis doesn’t quite betray any revenge fantasies that Mo may be harboring. But synopses rarely do, don't they?

The promo video for the episode, similarly, focuses only on Dawn and Blair, and the Congressman's wife who suspects the man of adultery; and rightly so. It is possible that Mo somehow put her up to it. One shouldn't put it past his crafty mind.

Something, however, suggests that despite viewers seeing Mo board a plane to a beach paradise, planning never to return to that chaotic Wall Street lifestyle, he still plans to exact his revenge on both Dawn and Blair. One is only left guessing how. Is it possible that he had something in store for them already that none of us will see coming? A sort of revenge plan, hidden in plain sight, that would only become painfully obvious once it presents itself?

The writing of ‘Black Monday’ is, not for nothing, some of the best in its genre. One wouldn’t then put it past the writers to trick the audience into believing Mo’s story is over. In all likelihood, there is a bombshell waiting to explode.

‘Black Monday’ airs Sundays on Showtime at 10 pm ET.
