Deadpool #1 -2

BACK IN BUSINESS

Deadpool is hired to take out a target named Rocko. He meets the biker in a movie theater and thanks to the eventual grenades it takes, blows him into oblivion. Later, he walks naked into his discount-mall themed hideout and talks with his assistant, Negasonic Teenage Warhead.

Oh it's you.... From the movie! How convenient!

Meanwhile, the Guardians of the Galaxy encounter a massive celestial headed towards earth. Star Lord sobbingly calls the Avengers for help and explains to them that there's a weapon that can defeat the monster, but they're not going to like who has it.

I'm the guy who has it!

The celestial eventually arrives and the Champions are forced to call everyone possible for help. That includes the Avengers, who have personally came to Deadpool's mall to get the interstellar weapon that can stop the obscure Groffon the Regurger. He quickly gets into it with them, runs away, and after a long and ridiculously drawn out fight, agrees to go and retrieve the weapon.

I'm definitely bloody enough now, no thanks to YOU!

Flying back to the battle, he heads up to shoot the vomiting celestial with it but of course it fails to fire. What happens next? As Deadpool stands outside the monster's gaping mouth and just about to get vomited on, we're left to wait and see as this issue is left to be continued.

Didn't Duggan put a bunch of vomiting in his last book?

Thanks to the new letter's page, it's nice to see Skottie Young pay tribute to Deadpool's former writers. Now that he's gone, it's easy to miss Gerry Duggan's leadership on this book. He too took a little while to grow on me though, and I owe it to this creative team to equally get some acquainted time. Hopefully it doesn't take too long, because what I'm seeing so far is pretty... pretty crappy. I give these two books a 6/10.
