Spider-Man #4

   This literally might be the shortest review of a comic book I've ever done. Ganke wants to meet former X-Man Goldballs, a new student at he and Miles' school. He gets mad when Miles won't go up to him and eventually tells him Miles is SpiderMan, which infuriates Miles and sends him swinging through the streets. He gets hit by a missile and falls to the ground at the feet of Hammerhead.

The end.

All I'm gonna say is that at least I'm a marvel unlimited customer because this truly wasn't worth the cover price. I give it a 4/10.

Uncanny Avengers #9

   Gambit is in New Orleans prepping for an art heist when Rogue shows up. She confides in her old flame that she was freaked out recently, after coming into contact with Red Skull, whom used Professor X's powers to make her see what he wanted her to see. Gambit offers to join the Unity Squad, but the conversation is interrupted when Captain America orders her to help some Russian astronauts on their way back into Earths orbit. Rouge does so and encounters legendary original Avenger Hank Pym, aka Ant Man, who claims he's happy to see a friendly face.

   She brings him to meet the other Avengers who after seeing him have reason for concern. Pym is wearing his cybertronic invention Ultron, whom he claims is now completely under his control. He's asked to submit his Ultron suit for testing, to which he's surprised to see Cable and Deadpool, 2 known terrorists, as members of the team. He regretfully shows them he has nothing to hide, and jaunts off for a burger and to see the Avengers mansion.

   Cap radios Janet, Hank's former wife, to explain to her that he's not actually dead. Meanwhile back at the now touristy former Avengers mansion, Rogue explains to Hank that there was a memorial service for him when they thought he had been killed. He destroys the memorial, tells the caretaker to send the bill to Deadpool, and with that the issue concludes.

   It's good to see original Avengers in any state, and as all of these "other" titles make their way towards the eventual re-launched flagship title, they're all coming home one way or the other. I'm also psyched to see Steve Rogers as the original Captain America because what can I say - I'm a sucker for nostalgia. Looking forward to see where this stroyline goes. I give in an 8/10.

All New X-Men #9

   It's Kid Apocalypse's 16th birthday, and as the apparent fabulous faction of the X-Men rave it down, Evan can't seem to get into it. Feeling a little depressed, he ambles into the RV where Beast is hard at work trying to send the original X-Men back to the past. He borrows the mini-Nightcrawler clone Pickles and bamfs into his past.

   As the two walk along the streets of the picturesque Kansas town, they are assaulted by anti-mutant haters. And as more of the flashback develops, we learn that Evan wasn't ever actually born and raised here after all. Instead raised in a tube. He bamfs back to the present, and just as he's dropping off Pickles, he spots the portable third eye helmet Doctor Strange gave Beast. After a brief warning, he of course puts it on and coupled with the experiments Beast has been running, the two of them are transported to ancient Egypt.

   The situation they immediately find themselves is chaotic - a prince about to be forced to make his first kill. As the two outsiders appear, he uses the distraction to make a getaway, grabbing Evan on the way out. Hank McCoy is unfortunately left for dead and appears to be about met with a grisly end while Evan helps his escapee to safety. Once away from danger, the prince unmasks himself and reveals he shares a freaky Apocalypse resemblance. He asks Evan to take him back with him, and with that, the issue closes.

   Never a bad issue in this series. I know it's a little strange to root for Beast to never find a way back to the 60's, but I really hope these heroes don't go anywhere. The next issue offers new light on Kid Apocalypse's origins and I look forward to seeing what's in store. As for this one being a precursor, I give it an 8/10.

All New All Different Avengers #9

   Loyal Avengers butler Edwin Jarvis depressingly cleans the old hanger the team has relocated to, when they come under attack from an unknown foe. Vision's temperature increases and his voice echoes, using future tense while laser blasts fly in from different directions, when suddenly there stands a new, old team member, the "new" Wasp. Nadia Van Dyne, the apparent stepdaughter of original Wasp Janet Van Dyne makes her introduction. Iron Man runs diagnostic tests on the malfunctioning arm-less Vision while the Wasp explains her lineage. She claims to be the daughter of original Ant Man James Pym and his first wife, Maria. 

   While the new Avengers meet their new old teammate, Vision's arm reappears - right through Nova's chest. Wasp fires a shot at it, disrupting its polarity when suddenly he goes superthermal and is about to explode. Wasp shrinks down and flies into his ear, retrieving the explosives she'd planted inside back in Civil War II and flies out before they detonate. 

   With the threat cleared, Iron Man and Nova fly the now rebooting Vision back to Stark Labs while Jarvis brings Nadia to meet her estranged family. The issue wraps with Iron Man and Captain America examining Vision who is now back online. He's upset that Kang has now used him as a weapon against his friends multiple times and vows revenge. Meanwhile, Nova chimes in over the radio and explains that he needs some time off to find his father who is lost in space. Iron Man offers to help and with that, the issue concludes.

   Pretty good issue. Rich in story and artwork. I don't know who was responsible for putting this particular group of Avengers together but it's been a pretty good combination. Good to see Wasp back, albeit she's no original, i.e. Spider-Man, Nova, or Ms Marvel. But excellent nonetheless. I give it a 9/10.

The Punisher #1

   Old man Olaf is back on the job. This time working for second in command Face, he's a little rusty but knows he can hold his own. Together they're part of a cartel known as Condor, and trying to launch a new street drug called EMC. Problem is that they're under DEA surveillance. Bigger problem than that, they're under surveillance by the Punisher. As the DEA plans to make their raid, so does Frank Castle.

   The Punisher makes his move, and although Olaf can see it on the monitors, there's nothing he can do about it. He makes his way through the compound killing at will. Throughout one of the most gory exchanges I've ever seen in a Marvel comic book, he's just about to kill some of the last goons left when Olaf comes in and shoots one of them under his nose. He plans to make a getaway but not before giving Frank the guidebook to the Condor organization. 

   The next morning, the DEA shows up for THEIR raid, but unfortunately find the remains of what Frank left them. The issue ends with Face on the phone with his boss, who gives him the order to go ahead and kill the Punisher. As Face attaches the skins of previous human kills to mount boards, he agrees it would be a pleasure - and with that, the issue concludes.

   My impression? WOAH! What a book. I was a fan of the Punisher back in the day and I'm glad to see that he's grown as far as a legend, as well as being a definite adult oriented title. I enjoyed it and can't wait to see what's next for the legendary merc. I give it a 9/10.

Deadpool #11

   Deadpool has his old buddy Victor Creed right where he wants him. Tied up between a truck and a tree, and about to dose him with Terrigen Mist to end his mutant life... and all because of the wrong memory. Luckily, Scott Adsit, The mercs for money's accountant, uses a spell to tap into Sabretooth's head where he tells Wade the truth - that it was him, Deadpool, that actually killed his parents. He sadly makes this realiazation and prepares to cut the X-Man loose.

   Before he gets the chance though, Magneto shows up, and twists the remains of the truck around Deadpool in retaliation for messing with one of his teammates. Also none too pleased with the fact Sabes allowed him to get the upperhand, Creed just explains he was playing possum. Explaining to him that Wade has a daughter whom is a mutant, Magneto decides to spare him, Also whispering something to the master of Magnetism, he tells him he's going to hold him to it, and with that he makes his exit. 

   Wade takes Victor's advice to see a doctor - Doctor Strange that is. The doctor tells him that he himself sought Strange to tell him the truth in the past. So Wade decides its time to give up the ghost. He finds Logue, whom he threatens a few issues before, and burns the book the former hitman had been compiling for him. With that, Deadpool rides off on the horse he rode in on - and stole from the Canadian mounted police, and decides its time to begin anew.

   Great issue. I was losing patience with this title but happy to see they got back on track. Deadpool's past is such a great mystery, so anytime they can shed some light, the better. I give it a 9/10.

Guardians Of The Galaxy #8

   After the previous two issues sent teams of the Guardians onto separate missions on a badoon prison planet without really explaining why, we finally get a little backstory...albeit not much of one. After Gamora was injured shortly after Quill was being banned from his kingship on Spartax, we find the group together again talking about where to find "her". Only problem is that they never really explain who "she" is.

   In this issue, Agent Venom and Groot head out to do.. well,they don't really explain what they're doing. All I know is that they encounter some skrulls and Flash Thompson isn't happy about it. He starts whipping their asses, and in between Groot's "I Am Groot" dialogue, fights  them until they explain they've been rendered enslaved and powerless by the badoon. Their conversation turns out to be a little short though, when their captors decide to make an entrance. Groot, Venom, and company make quick work of them, and as Flash was once a decorated war veteran, he vows to do the right thing, which turns out to be rescuing tens of thousands of skrulls before badoon reinforcements come back to retake their prison planet.

   I love Brian Michael Bendis, but this book is beginning to look like filler. it's a little beneath a title which depicts marvel properties which deserve a much higher profile. Not to mention he breaks a cardinal rule of what makes me enjoy comics and that's skrulls. What's next? The Starjammers? I give this issue a 6/10.
