Invincible Iron Man #10

   Col Rhodes and a disguised Tony Stark are surprised by Zhang, a ninja who breaks down the apartment door of his alter ego Richard Franco in order to bring him, blindfolded and in a Spider-Man mask to Tomoe. She'd heard of him and what he'd done at the Yukio club. She also read his supposed SHIELD file, which was clearly planted by Stark to further the illusion. While the kidnapping was going on, Rhodes escaped before being seen.
   Back in New York, Mary Jane picks up a strange package from her safety deposit box. After pushing the button that says "Push Me", which by the way, is a pretty dumb move to ever do in a comic book, she's surprised by a hologram of Stark Industries AI, Friday, who tells her she's desperately needed back at HQ to stave off a takeover attempt. Back in Osaka, Tomoe reveals to Franco that she's an Inhuman and secretly also the Techno Golum. Her powers are the ability to steal technology. She claims to have killed Tony Stark and explains to Franco that she needs him to track down and kill Rhodes.
   Riri Williams makes a cameo, flying her Iron Man suit in it's maiden voyage. A page later however reveals Col Rhodes explaining to someone or someones that Tony is alive. He needs help to get him out of trouble, and needs a team who can do it all with no technology. Only natural powers. We find out that team is none other than the Avengers who stand ready to help one of their oldest and still original members, and with that, the issue is to be continued.
   Great story, great art, and great dialogue from Bendis. My favorite part was while blindfolded, Tony says "Oh man, if this is one of those weird Japanese game shows where they shave my sack or something, I swear I'm gonna sue you... in world court..." Mike Deodato's art is clearly on point as well. I give it a 9/10.

The Punisher #2

   Face and the Condor gang are on the run. Unfortunately the DEA are on their trails. More unfortunately, so is the Punisher. He's on the road and stops at a seedy motel, renting a room and laying his arsenal on the bed.
   Thanks to Olaf, Frank gets a tip on the gangs next drop. Slowly but surely he picks off every last one of them until it's just Face left. He takes the EMC and transforms into a brutal killing machine. Face counters every move the Punisher has, from bullets to pistol whippings. He finally steels a car from the scene of the battle and takes off, leaving a menacing Frank Castle standing alone with corpses and contemplating his next move.
   Back in Vermont at what I assume is either the endgame for EMC or close to it, some of the Condor thugs make plans to hide the massive stash of the drug they have, with nefarious ways to do it. They know the Punisher is on his way, and this time they'll be ready. Sadly one of the thugs daughters, Juniper, appears furnished with a suicide vest. Will they know no decency in trying to stop the Punisher? Only one way to find out - in issue #3.
   Good, short, and to the point. While the artwork appears to be rushed, and this is no means Steve Dillon's best work (may he rest in peace). But the story makes up for it. I give it an 8/10.

Daredevil #7

   Fresh off the heels of the last issue, Electra attacks Daredevil, accusing him of taking her daughter. The devil of Hell's Kitchen responds by laying down, clearly not willing to fight and knowing the best course of action is to plead his case. After calming down a bit, Electra explains that the girl is an 11 year old named Iona. She gave her to her trainer Stick who assured her the child would be adopted and raised safely. Meanwhile, Daredevil is clearly freaked out, afraid he might actually be this child's father. She shows him a cellphone video and claims there is no sound. Not knowing Matt Murdock is a blind lawyer anymore, he acts like he can see it and asks for the phone. He brings it to Froggy, who looks at it and explains to him the phone is completely blank.
   Matt calls Linda Carter to check on her patient Blindspot, whom was injured in the previous issue during the beginning of the fight between DD and Electra. He tells him he's ready to get out and help anyway he can. Matt tells him to take some time off and let his breaks heel, even offering him a job at this particular lawyers office he knows. Later he meets Electra to ask about the phone, telling her the video wasn't real. She tells him that her search will continue and if she needs him, she'll contact him. As she leaps away, Daredevil hears the sounds of an attack happening off in the distance. He goes after her, seeing her as she attacks the person whom was allegedly involved in giving her the phone. He utters the phrase "the tangled web we weave" and her mind is instantly unlocked, knowing it was all a conspiracy to send her after Daredevil. She instantly feels relief of having no child to ultimately fail - but heaven help her when she finds who was responsible. She sprints away and the issue is left to be continued.
   I read this series up too this point but this the first review I'm doing on it. Of all the single character books I'm reading right now, this is definitely one of the best. Very thick on plot details and the art is great. I give it an 8/10.

Justice League #8

   As the Justice League gets a moment to reflect on what the Kindred did (and all with only one fatality), they all go back to their respective Justice...homes for some superhero maintenance. Cyborg in outer space upgrades systems in the Watchtower while Batman works on some patches on computers in the Batcave. Suddenly and without warning, all of their electronics and machines seemingly come alive, and now it's up to them to get to the bottom of what's happening.
   Every mechanical and weaponized item Bruce Wayne owns, which is pretty much everything, simultaneously starts trying to kill him and Alfred. Back at the Watchtower, the ghost computer program tries to open Cyborg's boom tubes to seemingly contact the rest of the league. In the Batcave, every entrance and exit seals tightly to keep Batman inside and anything trying to help him out. Cyborg senses the threat has passed so opens tubes but unfortunately for him, it was a ploy to make him believe the coast was clear. As Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Aquaman respond to his distress calls, Cyborg explains to him that he isn't in control and begins to fight Green Lantern. He begs them to do something but it's too late, as the unknown threat opens a portal using the Lantern's powers. Thousands of ring-oriented monsters attack as the rest of the team fights them - and with that, the issue is horrifyingly left to be continued.
   Great issue and great writing. Once again, it looks like Bryan Hitch has another winner on his hands and I'm looking forward to see where things are going. I give it a 9/10.

Deadpool #12

   The book opens with Wade Wilson's daughter Warda digging around in his old stuff. She realizes something is missing. Just then we see another mysterious Deadpool-dressed type with a tiny hologram ball of a very, very old Wade Wilson, apparently escaping with it on a motorcycle. His daughter realizes she's being distracted, and calls up her team of mercs to go after them. As they're blasting away, the woman who now has Wade jumps off the bike and goes after the daughter, telling Wade to fire up some sort of hologram. He does this and his old pal Pretson from SHIELD broadcasts out of it, surprised it's actually 2099.
   The two modern day Deadpools keep fighting as Preston and Wade manage to escape. It appears Warda is looking for info on what happened to her mother, Shiklah, and this is information this new Deadpool seems to have. Finally the big reveal of the issue occurs - Warda pulls off the mask of this new intruder who turns out to be Ellie - Warda's long thought-to-be-dead half sister. She tells Warda she's claiming the Deadpool name, freeing their father, and finally about to John Wick their ass. And with that, the issue is to be continued.
   I always get annoyed when a comic jumps around wildly in continuity. It's hard to follow and leaves me thinking I missed something on the front end, and this situation is no exception. Although they'll keep me hooked to find out where their going, this story is at the very least better than the Sabertooth tie in from a few books before. As usual I don't know where Gerry Duggan is bringing this arc, but I guess I'll bite. I give it an 8/10.

Uncanny Inhumans #9

   Queen Medusa was married to Blackbolt, but yadda yadda yadda, now she's with the Human Torch. They've kept it a pretty good secret, but in the last issue, a building was falling on the both of them. Just in time, the queen's sister Crystal (and Johnny Storm's ex-girlfriend), got there to rescue them... And saw them both making out in the rubble. Obviously upset about this, Crystal uses her powers and accidentally teleports all three of them to the arena of the Tourneyman. As he unleashes his monologue, Johnny has the same reaction that I had to a lot of this series: "Great! One of these guys!" He commands them all to fight, and then unexpectedly - just.. dies.

   The guards make a run for it. Knowing the only way to find out where they are and how to get back home, the Inhumans (+ Human Torch) run after them. On the way to the escape pods, the team runs by scores of battlegrounds being fought in by thousands of combatants. As they reach their destination, the guards show them that the ship they're on is slowly making its way into the sun. They decide to take all of the fighters with them back to Earth. As they began the teleportation, the guards break through. In the chaos, Crystal forgives Medusa, whom then immediately (and unwittingly) throws her sister into the portal. It's up to Medusa and Johnny Storm to save the rest of the combatants, as she throws the guards through first and slowly but surely, death looks imminent. Salvation comes however, from her dear sister - whom through the portal on Earth, sends a wave of water to wash the two holdouts back. As they realize they're all alive, they embrace each other... and with that, the issue wraps...

   I kind of crash coursed on both Inhuman books in a binge session and it took a bit to figure it out. Now that I've been along the ride a bit, characters are starting to become memorable and I like where it's heading. I give this issue a 7/10.

All New Inhumans #7

   Fresh off the heels of the previous issue, Flint is tipped off to the whereabouts of his family. Only problem is this information comes care of the less-than-reliable and newly revealed Inhuman Ana Kravinoff, daughter of Kraven the Hunter. Regardless, he and Gorgon trape off into the mountains of Mozambique to find out what she knows. There they find evidence of an ancient inhuman city.
   Soon after their arrival, they're engaged by a fellow inhuman, whom after quickly defeating Ana, brings them to Daya, the town council-person. She arranges a sightseeing trip through their hidden city, Utolan.
   Daya explains to Gorgon that their people left Atillan when they felt politics began interfering with nobler pursuits. In their minds, terrogenesis unlocked a path to transcendence. Meanwhile Flint reunites with his mother, whom it appears is surrounded by a few others who aren't real happy these new inhuman guests have shown up. Faint anxiety breaks out once the guards realize Ana has disappeared. While they spread out to find her, Flint is introduced to the sister he never knew he had, Ikelli. The tendril inundated warrior who incapacitated Ana in the beginning of the issue. She welcomes him home as issue ends, to be continued.
   As you might have noticed, this is my first review of any Inhumans comics. I don't know anything about them and really don't know Marvel's angle in introducing them so much. Either way, I know they fight the X-Men in the near future, as I suppose Marvel is tired of just making them fight the Avengers, so it should get interesting. I give this book a 6/10.
