Tony Stark: Iron Man #6

STARK REALITIES pt I :
THE ROLLOUT

Written by Dan Slott
Penciled by Valerio Schiti
Published Nov 21, 2018

Some low rate goons try their best to hijack some of Tony's newest emerging tech, but even that can't stop the launch of the eScape. The only problem is that there's a user who somehow has the ability to reinstate all the once booted, rowdy players back into the game. Tony's mother is left in a state of medical emergency while the Controller prepares to wreck shock. Another amazingly penned piece from the incomparable Dan Slott. I give this one a 10/10.

Star Wars #57

THE ESCAPE pt II

Written by Kieron Gillen
Penciled by Angel Unzueta
Published Nov 21, 2018

Han, Luke and Leia are introduced to Markona - leader of an isolationst commune on Hubin. Along with his daughter Tula, they're given a tour of the community. Later, Luke is shown the family plot before preparing to do battle with the encroaching Thanrax. But is this still all too good to be true? The rebels are probably right to remain a little skeptical. I give this one an 8/10.

Punisher #4

WORLD WAR FRANK pt IV

Written by Matthew Rosenberg
Penciled by Szymon Kudranski
Published Nov 21, 2018

Jigsaw quietly infiltrates the prison that currently holds Frank Castle. But as with any cell he's in, chaos quickly unfolds and leaves a trail of dead in it's wake. Later the Punisher explains to Black Widow he didn't do it, and just so happens to find himself at an Intro To Hydra Convention. Blowing the entire congregation away is old hat to Frank, but the final boss vows to not go down so easily. The issue ends on a cliffhanger with the Mandarin preparing to attack. But as for this one, I give it an 8/10.

Immortal Hulk #9

THE SINNERS

Written by Al Ewing
Penciled by Joe Bennett
Published Nov 21, 2019

There's a reason countless trade mags have mentioned this book being the best horror comic going right now. That's because it is. The Hulk's Jeckyl and Hyde act is an old one, but this time as he fights the enemy within, he's given a new..um, old adversary. Carl Creel, aka Absorbing Man makes a deal with the Feds to try a new Hulk-out drug. Every hit against the green monster absorbs his gamma energy. But does his untimely end justify the means? This one once again hits the scary spot, and earns itself a solid 9/10.

Astonishing X-Men #17

UNTIL OUR HEARTS STOP pt V

Written by Matthew Rosenberg
Penciled by Greg Land
Published Nov 21, 2019

The last issue of Astonishing X-Men finds the team lead by Havok finally at an impasse. Luckily for us though, it’s not enough to let them down. The group once again rendezvous’s with Kitty’s real, actual X-team and manages to defeat the Reavers. The series wraps with Alex Summers surrendering to General Callahan who agrees to get off the X-Men's back. But as the Blackbird makes it's departure, one thing is for certain. Havok isn't nearly the leader his brother Cyclops was, but he's still a pretty good leader none the less. I give this one a 10/10.

X-Men Red #10

THE HATE MACHINE pt X

Written by Tom Taylor
Penciled by Roge Antonio
Published Nov 7, 2018

With news that this series will be coming to an abrupt end with the following issue, it's hard to really be all that surprised. If you've followed my reviews for long, you've no doubt picked up on my love-mostly-hate for X-Men Red, and Tom Taylor keeps reminding us why. Still, with these last few issues, it looks like it's at the very least ending on a high note. The Cassandra Nova hate machine finally begins to wrap in Genosha when she takes on the X-Men with help from Tony Stark and the Avengers. Only question I have is where did they find the Magneto Helmet surplus store? I give this one a 7/10.

Venom #8

Written by Donnie Cates
Penciled by Iban Coello
Published Nov 14, 2019

It’s pretty amazing when you consider how far these writers have taken Eddie Brock and his symbiote, and I think I could make the argument that Donnie Cates has done more for him than any writer ever before. Once again, the “Maker” aka Reed Richards from Secret Wars continues to torture Eddie and his dormant parasitic alien. But a rare outburst from the dead Flash Thompson is able to overpower him and escape. The issue ends on a cliffhanger showing the recovered body of Cletus Kasady. Where does that leave Venom? There’s only one way to find out. I give this one a 10/10.
