   The 620th issue of Uncanny X-Men blasts off in full force and I’m absolutely ecstatic to welcome it’s return. Under the brilliant tutelage of Ed Brisson and Mahmud Asrar, my blatant longing for this book to come back might have me wearing some red crystallized glasses (ala Scott Summers) but at this point, I’m taking what I can get. Kind of a combo of the X-Men Red and Gold lineups, personnel isn’t going to be this book’s strong suit. But like I said, this is better than what we’ve had in the past. With returning friend turned foe Multiple Man, plus cameos from the MLF and even Apocalypse, this is already better than what we got with the X-Color books. I give this return-to-form a 9/10.

Thor #7

YOUNG THOR'S LAMENT

  In a oneshot tale of young Thor, Jason Aaron is paired with guest artist Tony Moore. And his guest pencils don't disappoint. I've been critical of Mike Del Mundo in the past and there's no real reason to stop now. Either way, it's good for his watercolors and whatever else he uses to get a break and even better, in a quick and easy read like this one. Young Thor is of course again manipulated by Loki in a bid to their father to keep him off Earth so much. Enter the hulkish Erika The Red and our favorite Asguardian has fallen in viking love. Of course, all things can't last forever. I give this one a 9/10.

Fantastic Four #3

FAMILY REUNION

   The Griever threatens to completely unravel everything in the universe. Luckily, the Fantastic um, 12 are on the case? Reed Richards calls on every Fantastic Four member ever, and to say the family reunion is anything but bittersweet would be an understatement. Together they all make quick clobberin' time of the entity, and we're once again reminded just what Dan Slott can bring to a comic book series. With everything pretty safe in this book, I again give it high marks at 10/10.

Daredevil #611

THE DEATH OF DAREDEVIL pt III

   Soule's penultimate issue of this series features tons of action. Not sure what else you could ask for in a Daredevil book, but if that isn't enough, try 6 classic villains willing to take him down. A wounded Matt Murdock is eventually saved by his twin brother Mike. But is the good will enough to last? We'll have to wait ti find out as this issue concludes with a bang. But for this issue, I give it a solid 9/10.

Captain America #5

WINTER IN AMERICA pt V

   Cap finally catches up to Selene and Alexa. And after defeating the Taskmaster, he's able to battle his way in to free his girlfriend, Sharon Carter. Unfortunately, the villains appear successful in resurrecting Aleksander Lukin and the issue ends with a cliffhanger, as the Red Skull looks at his reflection in the mirror. Once more, Ta-Nehisi Coates pens what is arguably the best Captain America title in years. Only five issues in, and still getting better with every book. I give this one a 9/10.

Avengers #10

Written by Jason Aaron Penciled by David Marquez, Frazer Irving, Adam Kubert, and Andrea Sorrentino  

 With the undersea war between Namor and the Avengers still going strong, the 700th issue of this legendary series just continues crushing it. In between innuendo between Thor and She-Hulk, Jason Aaron and David Marquez, along with a few guest artists, manage to even bring in some international faire. The Defenders of the Deep prepare for long term battle. Plus the return of Agent Coulson and the introduction of the Squadron Supreme of America, this humongous doublesized issue definitely has it all. I give this one a 10/10.

Amazing Spider-Man #9

HEIST pt II

  As the Thieves Guild continues stealing various superhero artifacts, Spider-Man once again teams up with on and off again love interest, the Black Cat. But unfortunately for the webhead, her good streak only goes so far. Nick Spencer shows that he still has a pretty good pulse on our favorite webslinger, and Ramos' pencils are top notch. I give this one an 8/10
