Amazing Spider-Man #32-36: 2099

 2099

Written by Nick Spencer

Penciled by Patrick Gleason and Oscar Bazuldua
Published Oct to Dec 2019

In between Spider-Man 2099 showing up, for pretty much no real reason, Spidey has to figure out what brings Silver Sable and his sister Theresa back into the fray. Not to mention discovering a handy new tool called the Clairvoyant, our hero is also forced to deal with a Doctor Doom assasination attempt. Eventually learning that telling Doom the truth - it was Silver Sable’s country whom was trying to goad him into war. With that, 2099 slips off into a regular life, Theresa still wants to kill the Chameleon, but this arc coasts to a confusing and non-story ending conclusion.
So normally I love everything that Nick Spencer has managed to do, this time he kind of loses me. This one is all over the place and in the end, doesn’t really shore anything up other than kicking off a 2099 tie-in. Either way, it’s still good enough to keep a continent story going and plus introduces former Batman penciled Patrick Gleason into the Marvel family. I give this one a 7/10.
